The Dow Jones paced gains in New York with the Nasdaq lagging amid a rotation into the blue-chip benchmark and small-cap shares and out of tech stocks. Twenty-four of the Dow’s 30 components higher at the closing bell, led by Boeing, Nike and American Express.

At 4pm on Wall Street: Dow +1% S&P 500 +0.4% Nasdaq +0.2%
