Musk Calls Tim Walz ‘A Huge Jerk’ for Celebrating Tesla Stock Plunge: ‘What an Evil Thing to Do’

Elon Musk ripped Democratic Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as “evil” and not a “good person” during an interview that aired on Friday evening with Fox News anchor Bret Baier.

Musk also said Walz’s comments about downloading an app on his phone to enjoy watching Tesla’s stock slide in real time made the 2024 Democratic vice presidential nominee a “creep.”

In the second part of his interview with Baier, Musk was asked about the backlash against his auto company over his work slashing jobs and budgets with the Trump administration.

“It’s actually disadvantageous for me to be in the government,” Musk told Baier. “Not advantageous. If I wasn’t in the government, I could lobby. And I could push for things that are advantageous to my companies and probably get it, probably receive it. My companies are suffering because I’m in the government. You just pointed that out a moment ago.” Musk added:

Think it would help sales if dealerships are being firebombed? Of course not. And Tesla customers are being intimidated all over the country and all over Europe. Does that help Tesla? I mean, you have Tim Walz, who’s a huge jerk, running on stage with the Tesla stock price has gone in half and he was overjoyed. What an evil thing to do. What a creep, what a jerk.

Like, who derives joy from that? And it was pointed out to him that actually, you know, the Minnesota state pension fund is a major investor in Tesla. But he didn’t care. He was so overjoyed by Tesla stock going down. Does that sound like a good person to you? I don’t think so.

During a town hall event in Wisconsin last week, Walz told a crowd, “Some of you know this. On the iPhone, they’ve got that little stock app. I added Tesla to it to give me a little boost during the day — $225 and dropping.”

After it was reported that the Minnesota State Board of Investment’s pension fund owned approximately 1.8 million shares of Tesla stock, Walz said he was being a “smartass.”

“I was making a joke,” Walz added. “These people have no sense of humor. They are the most literal people.”
